- Although it's natural, it's not as easy as it looks. It definitely takes a break in period where you and your baby literally "camp out" and learn to work together as a team! Practice definitely makes perfect for most moms and babies.
- Buy a sports bra type of nursing bra while pregnant and get measured once the baby is born and your milk has come in. Your breasts change in size greatly and you will want a comfortable bra that fits you correctly. Trust me on this!
- Get as much support as you can in the beginning. It can be very difficult for some mamas and if they don't have spousal support, family support, or friends, it can get frustrating and even make you want to quit.
- Make sure you are sure about your desire to breast feed. Some Moms choose to breast feed for reasons other than wanting to give their baby the best start possible. They don't realize that it can actually get difficult for a bit and want to quit easily. Learn as much as you can about breast feeding and breast milks benefits. I was sold on the idea well before I got pregnant and so when I did have my hiccups in nursing my kids, I just worked through them.

More Breastfeeding Did You Know's
- Usually, formula's containing Soy or lactose free formula's contain high fructose corn syrup which is an artificial sweetener and known to cause obesity. Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in breast milk and milk based formula's, it's necessary for brain development.
- Formula's are now containing DHA which is found in breast milk and essential for brain development and formation BUT, it comes from algae or fish which can contain mercury which is passed into the formula.
- A Mother's germ antibodies are passed to the baby to protect them from getting sick.
- Vitamin's in a Mother's milk are absorbed more completely than the vitamins in formula.
- Breast milk contains digestive enzymes and is rich in hormones. With formula the processing kills the cow hormones and the digestive enzymes.
- Breastfeeding saves a family $600 to $2000 a year and that number could go up if the child is seeing the doctor often due to illness. Nursing mother's that have to work miss less usually as a general rule as well.

Milk Nursing Wear Review And Giveaway!CLOSED
I am nursing my second baby and pretty much hate that I have to have a wardrobe that's dictated by breast feeding. I plan on nursing for the full first year at least so that means a whole lot of tank tops! I find that nursing tops can sometimes be unflattering, too expensive, and often times not very cute.

Covillow Nursing Cover-Review And Giveaway!

I am nursing my second child right now and I have been playing around with different nursing covers. A few I have reviewed previously here on my blog. As I've said before I'm a modest nursing mama. I have no qualms with someone else nursing without a cover, I'm just uncomfortable doing it and only recently started to nurse my son in public with a cover.
- My experience with this nursing cover was very positive!
- I loved the full coverage, I really liked the modern patterns that were available
- I loved that the pillow could be used or removed and I saw a need for that as baby grows
- I also loved that there was some light boning in the neck to allow me to see my baby and help him latch which is really difficult to do with many covers.
- And, anyone that has read my blog knows that I'm all for the small mom run businesses that run our world!
- They are handmade and 100% cotton!
- The only dislike is unfortunately something that comes with the territory of my modesty and where I live(AZ), it can get pretty warm during a nursing session. It isn't the covers fault, it's just how it is.

Freaky Friday-Breastfeeding Doll
I don't have a problem with it. The doll makers, which incidentally are in another country, sought out opinions from child psychologists and reviewed the doll with children to see how they interacted. I don't think it sexualizes a child, or makes them favor more or less breastfeeding to bottle feeding. There have been plenty of "bottle fed" dolls for years and some of those young girls grew up to later breast feed their own children.
The only issue I would have with this doll, is an issue that some experts have as well. This limits imagination. Many little girls are born nurturing, my daughter is a great example of that. She loves to bathe, clothe, and feed her baby dolls. She is empathetic, etc. Having a toy that does only one thing can limit a child's imagination since it's telling the child what to do and the child may become bored with a one dimensional toy and stop playing with it after the fascination wears off.
Either way, I'm much more apt to buy my daughter a doll that teaches her what her body can do and is nurturing than buying her a slutty Bratz doll that teaches her how to dress inappropriately and how to become a lover of all things material.

Belli Cosmetics Skincare Review *CLOSED*

The Body Firming Serum contains marine proteins, shitake mushroom, and pumpkin seed cake. It's meant to be used daily, as you would your favorite lotion or moisturizer. The shitake mushroom is added to improve elasticity and the rice proteins added help maintain a healthier, smoother skin tone. I liked that it was very light, goes on like a watery gel and absorbs quickly. Not scented and though it's light you can feel it on your skin, tightening slightly. I like it's natural, non greasy feel. I love that it's made with ingredients that aren't perfumed and are totally safe for babies and children.
The Skin Smoothing Body Exfoliator is my cup of tea! I get really dry skin living in AZ and it's essential for me to exfoliate. If I don't, I get that lovely crusty, white, dead skin film on my body. Nobody wants to see that. I also love that it's anti inflammatory. When you're pregnant and after you have the baby, there's so many hormones running through your body that it doesn't know whether it's coming or going. The dryness is just part of it. I really love the invigorating smell of peppermint oil! The ginseng and green tea makes this incredibly refreshing on the skin and leaves your skin very soft and smooth.
So what's the big deal about Belli? It's made by parents that wanted their products to be safe for both Mother and baby and saw a gap in the industry. It's OB-Gyn recommend and 100% Lact-med screened(pthalate free). The products have natural ingredients and are formulated to be safe for pregnant and nursing mothers and their children. That shows their dedication to making a safer and more beautiful environment and makes me comfortable using it.
Win It
One Mom is going to be lucky enough to win a Body Firming Serum and Skin Smoothing Body Exfoliator of their own! That's a $58 value.
Rules
Please go to the Belli website and tell me another item on their site that you would like to try. This must not be these two items. This must be done first or you will not be eligible.

Simply Breastfeeding DVD-REVIEW
That really threw me off my course but, I was still determined to nurse. I had never pictured myself *not* doing it for her. Especially when I knew that I would be home with her instead of going back to work immediately. On the third day, my milk came in and I was in the clear to breast feed my daughter. It seemed like an easy enough thing to do. Wrong! I was still pretty medicated, my daughter was tiny and I was engorged. My daughter had a decent latch but, wouldn't stay awake for her meals and was spitting up all of the formula that she was being fed with.
After we got home, I settled in and continued to nurse her. It really took me about 4 to 5 weeks before my daughter was nursing consistently without me having to pump some of her meals. It was frustrating at times but, again, I was already sold on the idea.
I just watched this video, Simply Breastfeeding-The Criso Method on DVD. I had heard about Shari's video and asked her if I could watch it and review it. Even though I breastfed my first, it didn't mean I couldn't learn anything for when we decide to have another baby. I have to say I was surprised at how thorough Shari was. This educational video was filmed in a classroom setting, and is simply Shari and a few students learning the importance of breastfeeding. In it's simplest terms, that's what it's about. It's not this big movie production that's there to entertain.
Shari is a CNM, MSN, and IBCLC. In layman's terms she is a nurse, certified nurse midwife, and a lactation consultant. She is very thorough in her explanations and reasons for her subjects. Shari has been doing this for awhile and you can tell she has a confidence level to back her teachings up. She makes it so you can take her "class" and learn from her even if you're not in the same city she is in. She is a hard sell on breast feeding. She goes over proven studies as to just how important it is to at least try to give your baby the nutrition your body was made to give. She also feels that it's important to be fully committed or face giving up easily when it's tough.
The DVD covers every detail you can possibly think of regarding breast feeding an infant. American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, benefits, challenges, how much they need from birth to a year or more, changes in the body regarding hormones from pregnancy to milk production, positioning, latching, nipple soreness, fore milk, hind milk, pumping, using a bottle, growth spurts and cluster feeding and so much more!
I read a lot of things about breast feeding before I had my daughter. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable since I had done that and nursed my own daughter until she was ten months old. I did learn a few things from Shari that I hadn't heard or didn't really know. I was always fuzzy about how much a baby really needs to eat those first few days and Shari shows an exact comparison via a bottle as to how much a baby can tolerate at a feeding and how much you actually produce in the first few days. I also didn't know that it was a myth that a C-section has no bearing on how quickly your milk will come in. That is determined by the placenta being removed and the transition of hormones in your body. I was surprised at how much I did learn and that's why this review is so complete. Shari really knows her stuff and knows how a woman's body works and how they are made to feed our babies.
